Game of Roll Strikes

January 29, 2024

A fun game that resembles the feeling of getting points and strikes in bowling. Fun with two or more. Even teams can be formed. One game can even be established as a limited number of frames for those who might not endure the full 10 shown. Your game…your rules maybe? Have fun.

Roll for Strikes
Any number of players can play, Create teams or play solo.
The object of the game to gain points by rolling the dice and highest score wins. OR whatever rules your as facilitator determines.

  • Each player gets a score sheet and a pencil, or there can be someone appointed to keep score for the players.
  • Two six sided dice and a cup to use as a shaker. (A plastic drink cup will do.)
  • Players may need help adding their scores.

GAME INSTRUCTIONS

In turn, each player rolls BOTH dice ”to bowl” one frame. Player has option for two rolls per turn.

  1. Player records first roll in ROLL 1. Record score.
  2. Second roll options:
Player rolls both dice and records second score.
or player keeps the higher die and rolls the second die and adds result to first die to get ROLL 2 score.
Example: First roll player gets a 6 and a 3. total 9. He has option on second roll to keep the 6 and roll the die with 3 again and adding total to 6 for final score. He might roll and 4, so total would be 10 for that frame.
  3. Add Roll 1 and Roll 2. Put total into TOTAL box of each frame.
  4. All players complete their turn, in order, before going to next frame.
  5. When everyone has completed 10 frames, add the scores across the TOTAL LINE and put total in the upper left corner just below the red star.

SCORE SHEET

SCORING

  • Usually the scores are taken from the face value of dice totals. These alternate scoring methods add to the game:
  • If two ones are rolled at the same time, consider it a GUTTER BALL and scores NO POINTS.
  • If two sixes are rolled at the same, consider you rolled a STRIKIE. Give 18 points for that roll!
  • If a player chooses to keep a 6 from the first roll and another six is rolled in the second roll, consider that a SPARE and giver 15 points for that roll.

WINNER:
If playing singles, player with highest score wins. If playing teams, add totals of team members together and team with highest score wins. Alternatively, add team member scores together and then divide by number of players on the team for the team’s average score. In that case, consider the team with highest average score as winner!
